The Bamboo Zip Sleeper is our first piece: a zip-front baby sleeper designed in Alberta, Canada around one idea — gentle beginnings. It is cut from a 250 GSM single jersey in 95% viscose from bamboo and 5% spandex, chosen for softness, breathability, and enough stretch to move with your baby through the night. The design is fully gender-neutral, in three low-saturation colourways made to be handed down, not sorted by aisle.

Wame is an Alberta business. The Bamboo Zip Sleeper was designed here — the fit, the size grading, the fabric specification and the safety standards we hold it to were all set in Canada, for Canadian homes and Canadian rules. Pricing is in CAD and we are launching in Canada first.

Safety and standards

The sleeper is designed to meet Health Canada's requirements for tight-fitting children's sleepwear. Loose-fitting sleepwear must meet strict flammability limits; tight-fitting sleepwear is the recognized safer construction for babies, which is why the Bamboo Zip Sleeper follows a close-to-body fit. Our fabric specification requires OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I certification — the class written for textiles intended for babies and toddlers under three. We do not make claims about our materials that we cannot verify.

Care

Machine wash cold with like colours on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Viscose from bamboo keeps its softness longest with low heat.

Questions parents ask

What is viscose from bamboo? It is a fibre made by processing bamboo cellulose into a soft, breathable textile. Canadian labelling rules require it to be called "viscose from bamboo" rather than simply "bamboo," and we follow that standard everywhere we describe our fabric. Read more on our fabric page.

Why is baby sleepwear tight-fitting? Health Canada's flammability framework treats snug-fitting sleepwear as the safer construction for children, because it reduces the air layer between fabric and skin. Our fit follows that guidance.

Is the sleeper footed? Every size has a convertible foot, so you can cover the feet for sleep and fold the panel back once your baby is walking. The cuffs fold over the hands the same way. One piece works before and after those milestones, in every size we make.
