Wamé is a Canadian baby essentials brand making premium, gender-neutral baby sleepwear in viscose from bamboo — designed in Alberta and built on verified claims only.

Fabric and materials

Viscose from bamboo is a fibre made by processing bamboo cellulose into a soft, breathable textile. Canadian labelling rules require it to be called “viscose from bamboo” rather than simply “bamboo,” and we follow that standard everywhere we describe our fabric. You can read the full explanation on our fabric page.

95% viscose from bamboo and 5% spandex, knit at 250 GSM. The spandex gives the fabric stretch recovery so it moves with a baby and returns to shape after washing. The zipper is a YKK #3 nylon coil.

GSM stands for grams per square metre — a measure of fabric weight. At 250 GSM the fabric has enough substance to feel considered rather than flimsy, while staying breathable enough for sleep. We publish the number because it is comparable between brands, unlike words such as “buttery” or “luxe.”

Our fabric specification requires OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I certification, the strictest class, written for textiles intended for babies and toddlers under three. Our garments also go through independent third-party laboratory testing for flammability, lead, phthalates, and fibre content as part of pre-launch development. We publish claims only after they are verified.

Safety and construction

Health Canada's flammability framework treats snug-fitting sleepwear as the safer construction for children, because it reduces the air layer between fabric and skin. Loose-fitting children's sleepwear must meet strict flammability limits for this reason. Our fit follows that guidance.

Footed in sizes NB through 3–6M, and footless from 6–9M onward so growing babies can find their footing safely.

Sizing and range

NB through 18/24M, in three colourways: Chalky Linen, Desert Dusk, and Storm Dust. See the Bamboo Zip Sleeper for full details.

Because babies outgrow clothing faster than families can reasonably re-buy it. Neutral colourways and quiet design mean each piece can be handed down regardless of who wears it next.

Care and ordering

Machine wash cold with like colours on a gentle cycle, tumble dry low, and skip the bleach. Low heat preserves softness longest.
